The Launch of “Your Animal’s Oracle”

Posted on

Dogs played, tea and sandwiches were consumed and speeches made. The launch of Your Animal’s Oracle was a lovely afternoon, concluding with a large circle of people all meditating at once to communicate with Daisy, who wandered around freely, happy to share her thoughts.

It was so thrilling to see so many people receive the same images from Daisy (of tennis balls, of the beach, of her fear of wind and loud noises, and of her incredible radiating joy in life). As a communicator, I talk to many animals and pass on messages to their people, so it was such a special experience to be on the receiving end of messages from my animal.

I took the opportunity to make a little speech, and if you’d like to read it, I’ve copied it here:

My name’s Lucy, I am an animal communicator, holistic practitioner, workshop facilitator and the author of Your Animal’s Oracle. I’d like to thank you all for coming here today to help celebrate this event. I’ve been a writer for a very long time and have had several things published but this is my first official launch and it’s really nice to be able to share that with you all. Today is the 1st of August and I feel like this is a significant date to launch these cards as, in numerology, the number 1 is all about new beginnings. And, of course, it’s the international horses’ birthday, and my business name of Hercules Publishing is named in honour of my horse, Hercules, who is no longer with us but who was my greatest teacher in putting me on my journey towards holistic care for animals and spiritual communication with them.

For many years, I used oracle cards when I wanted more information about my animals and what I could do to help them. And I kept thinking, this is great, but wouldn’t it be even better if there was a set of cards designs especially for animals and spoke directly about their needs. So I held this idea for quite some time before I began actively asking for guidance about what the content of those cards should be. And it’s taken several years for that all to come together into what I have now, which is a set of cards that are the first of their kind in Australia, and only the second set that I could find anywhere on the internet.

The real value in these cards, I believe, is that it really simplifies the communication process, while at the same time fostering a person’s confidence and appreciation in their own abilities to communicate with animals. They’re like a stepping stone, or a bridge, between you and your animals. No longer do you have to go and see an animal communicator or pet psychic for your animal; you can empower yourself to experience that for yourself.

I use them in two ways:

  1. When I do a formal communication with an animal, I do a card reading at the end to get further clarification or deeper insight into information that I received during that communication.
  2. When I don’t have enough time or space to go into a deep meditation to communicate, then the oracle cards provide a short cut to that communication to give me some immediate information that I can go on with.

Just about every card in the pack, gives information relating not just to the animal but to our relationship with the animal and I see this as a beautiful way of deepening and strengthening our bonds with our most loved furry people.

So that’s a bit of information about the cards and where I feel their strength lies. So just before we break for afternoon tea and reconvene for a workshop in animal communication, I just want to thank a few people.

  • Firstly, I want to thank the many special, complicated and endlessly loving animals that have come into my life and helped this journey;
  • I want to thank my mother for really initiating me as a very small person into this world of spiritual awareness, and for letting me bring every animal imaginable into our home; and my dad for buying me my first horse, Hercules;
  • I want to thank Donna and Lewis from Canine Cubby for hosting to day’s event;
  • I would like to thank Eileen from Natural Animal Care for the many ways that she supports my life’s journey;
  • even though she’s not here, I would like to thank Naomi Baker from Intuitive Creative who did the graphic design for these cards and really did a stellar job, especially on the box design, which I think is just so beautiful;
  • I would like to thank my very dear friend Michele Cashmore for supporting all of my creative dreams with such careful thought and unwavering belief;
  • my extraordinary husband, Alwyn, who knew as soon as he met me that the animals in our house would outnumber the people many times over, and jumped into that with two feet, and whose passionate belief in these cards is what’s really brought them into the physical world—these cards are just as much his as they are mine;
  • and finally, the gorgeous Daisy Dog for being such a stunning poster child.

Lastly, I dedicate the creation of these cards to the animals of the world. My hope is that the joy and wisdom that is contained in these cards travels the world on webs of light and that it advances the collective animal souls into a new world of peace and love.

How to use oracle cards: animal choice

Posted on

To add some fun and creativity into your animal readings, why not invite your animal to pick a card?

  1. Shuffle the cards as usual, remembering to ground and centre yourself, and ask your question aloud to your animal.
  2. Lay out the cards on the floor or the bed and invite your animal to come and choose a card.
  3. Take notice of which card/s your animal sniffs, nudges or walks across.
  4. Read the chosen card/s for guidance that has come straight from the animal’s paw!

How to use oracle cards: lay out

Posted on

Another way that you can use your oracle cards is what I call the ‘lay out’.

  1. Simply, shuffle the cards and spread them out in a line or fan shape.
  2. Close your eyes, think of a question or ask in general for guidance about a particular animal.
  3. Still with your eyes closed, hold your palm above the cards and move it back and forth, taking note of any signs, such as warmth in your hand, to stop and pick a card.
  4. Read your card and repeat if necessary.

Opening your set of oracle cards

cardsWhen you bring home your set of Your Animal’s Oracle cards (or any oracle cards), there are a few things that we advise that you do.

1. Clear excess energies that may have been picked up in travel and storage. You can do this a number of ways including giving the deck a good knock with your knuckles to ‘shake’ loose energies. You can also hold them in your hands and use your breath and intention to clear the energies. You might like to use a smudging stick to smudge them. Or you might like to place them on a bed of crystals.

2. Initiate the cards to your energy. Spend time with your cards, looking, touching and reading each one. Shuffle them around until you feel that the cards are attuned to your energy.

3. State your intention. Hold the deck of cards in your hands and close your eyes. State your intention for the use of the cards. For example, ‘I now ask to receive only the highest truth and clarity from these cards for my highest good’.

4. Store your cards in a loving manner. Your cards are in service to you. Store them in a designated place that is just for them, possibly alongside your other decks of cards, or crystals, or runes. Some people like to keep their cards wrapped up in a special scarf or inside a small bag. Whatever you do with your cards, your intention is to honour and respect them, and feel gratitude for the great work that they do.

Now you are ready to begin using your cards!

How to use animal oracle cards

Posted on

There are probably as many ways to use your oracle cards as you can think of. The most important thing is make sure that you:

  • have stated your intent
  • ground and centre yourself
  • be open to receiving guidance for the highest good.

Here is one way to use your cards.

  1. Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths.
  2. Imagine yourself sitting on the ground and golden-white light running down through the top of your head and down your spine to connect with the ground. You might even like to imagine yourself growing roots down into the earth.
  3. When you feel ready state your intention. For example: ‘I ask to receive clear and accurate guidance for the highest good about my dog Daisy.’
  4. Ask your question. For example: ‘What is it appropriate that I should know in regards to Daisy’s health right now?’
  5. Shuffle the cards (in whatever way works for you) for as long as you feel necessary.
  6. When you feel the time is right you may like to pick one to four cards from the pack. (If any of the cards ‘fly out’ while you are shuffling then take particular notice of these.)
  7. Read the messages and look at the pictures. Take your time to reflect on the various ways that the card may have guidance for you on your question.

You may like to write your messages down in a journal for future reference. Date your journal entries. If you notice the same cards or themes coming out over time then this might provide extra relevance for your situation.

The face of Your Animal’s Oracle

Posted on

daisy-at-beachThis is the face of Your Animal’s Oracle! Her name is Daisy and she had her third birthday yesterday (which she celebrated with tennis balls—her all time favourite thing!)

Lucy captured this photo just by luck on the family’s first holiday with the dogs to the seaside in Yamba in New South Wales.

Most of the photos in Your Animal’s Oracle are professional photos but Daisy has managed to sneak into three cards in the set. She appears in the ‘Pain’ card; the ‘Conversations’ card; and the ‘Healthy Balance’ card. A close up of this photo has given Your Animal’s Oracle a beautiful and personal signature to grace the cover of the box.

Daisy is known to be a fan of cameras and photography and does take great photos. For the record Lucy’s other dog (Goldie) shies away from the camera and turns her head every time Lucy tries to get a good shot. Lucy’s albums are full of Goldie’s face as she turns away or licks her lips or dips her head. She keeps trying though and one day she’s sure she’ll get the perfect picture!
